East Turkestan: Satellite Evidence of China Destruction of Uyghur Mosques

At the beginning of April 2019, two Uyghur activists released satellite images showing evidence of Chinese-perpetrated destruction of mosques. Even though some of the buildings were part of Chinese Architectural Heritage, Beijing is pursuing its campaign to silence and assimilate the Muslim Xinjiang region, also known as East Turkestan.
Satellite imagery posted by activists appears to show that the Chinese government is systematically destroying landmark mosques in the Muslim Xinjiang Autonomous region as human rights organizations step up their criticism of Beijing over its abuse of minority Uyghur Muslims in so-called “reeducation camps.”
